Bio:
IRONHEAD was born of tragedy. The band was formed in 2003, less than 2 years after Johnny Sikk's (who recently changed his name from Johnny Sonic after being hospitalized in Seattle) father died in a motorcycle accident, and the name is not only a tribute to his father but to his dad's death. It's no surprise that this power trio plays a style of rock n roll that is loud, angry and down-right demented at times. Ironhead combines 70's punk, 80's hard rock and their own personal style to create this new exciting sound they call Death Glam. The band sites many influences including The Dead Boys, Alice Cooper, Motley Crue, Hanoi Rocks, Motorhead, New York Dolls, The Sisters Of Mercy and Iggy & The Stooges just to name a few. But don't be fooled by their influences-these are no mere cock rockers. It goes way beyond that! They eat, drink and shit rock n roll. And this is no joke, these guys and girl who formed in Virginia, currently live in whatever dark alley they can park their van for the night so they can tour the country, reek havoc with like-minded freaks and suck the blood out of all the generic bands that are taking up space. Ironhead's debut CD, Livin' Like We Wanna Die, released in March on Dead City Records, finds lead man Sikk screaming about suicide and fist fights. The cover shows bassist, Angela Foxx, slashing her wrists as she hovers over a healthy serving of cocaine. The album is 13 songs of total debauchery. The album recently received critical acclaim in the Sept. issue of Classic Rock Magazine, who called the album "jagged, slashing, venomous motorsleaze lurking down the same dark alley as The Dead Boys, Motorhead, The Plasmatics and G.G. Allin". Ironhead will be featured again in the June issue of Classic Rock in an article by Metal Dave Glessner hi-lighting some of the best new acts at SXSW 2006 where they played 4 showcases. And they don't just tour here in the states, they have toured in Europe twice in their short existence. Ironhead is currently ON TOUR in the US in support of their new CD.
