Originally Turbo Lax (TL) was expected to be a non long-lasting project in 98-97 in Togliatti, Russia. In May 1997 the band made its first five records, and in the summer of 1997 the band included Yuri the guitarist, Alexander - bass and back vocal, Johnnie the drummer, Serge the vocalist and lyricist. The band chose its name and the rehearsals began in August 1997. The chosen style was hardcore punk. In the very beginning of its career TL differed from other bands, it played hard, penetrating and rushing HC/Punk with metal sound and English language lyrics about serial killers, street side jerks, suicide and crazy housewives. Black humor and debauchery were the main concept of the songs. In the October 1997 a short program of six songs was ready and the first quite successful performance took place, all that inspired the band to continue working together. The 1998 began with several successful concerts, and then the band started to write new material, playing from time to time on various local concerts along with other bands. It’s a fact that at that time there left almost no punk bands in Togliatti and its surrounding towns. Such an occurrence as Hardcore was known to a very little group of interested enthusiasts, and the most of the people coming on rock concerts such styles didn’t attract at all. However the live performances of TL went well, it was a stimulating factor that moved the band ahead in hard for province underground conditions. Having finished in December with a very short and scandal show and written enough songs for upcoming at that time new album band met the beginning of the 1999 to start recording the next album as soon as possible. But suddenly crisis came into the band. New 1999 happened to be a very unlucky year for TL. There was not a single new concert played or song written. The eagerness disappeared without rest. Finally the material was ready and TL went to the studio. A the result Johnny left the band and Viktor Tensin previously played as a drummer in "Zdets" was invited instead. Luckily he knew all needed drum parts by heart. With his active participation TL wrote and arranged its debut album. After some negotiations Viktor joined the band and TL came into 2000 with a new performer. With this "fresh blood" TL obtained second breath and the next live performance showed that the band reached a higher level than ever before. The sound become brighter and complete in comprehensive presentation. It was decided to write songs in Russian language only, since it sounded more impressive. Music became more melodic and positive. Performances at local areas and other towns went great. There were the days of great events filled with unbelievable and unique moments. A lot of fresh interesting material appeared, that appeared on the second album. The recording began in March 2002, but due to different reasons it lasted till August 2003, when finally the LP was ready and named Street Fight. In summer 2003 TL was about to collapse. The conflict situation got even worse and the band decided to look for a new drummer. Denis "Den" Ivanov was to be the next and last drummer till now. A deep crisis was overwhelmed when he joined the band. For the last two years lots of great concerts were played in Togliatti as well as in other towns. TL played with other great bands, old material was revisited, the third album named Here and Now was recorded. Nowadays guys work out its best potential and move even further in spite all obstacles and keep working together.
