Same Old Story have been casually dishing it out for years now and still not one ounce of true musical talent to be found, just raw instinct and uncanny luck. When you think about it... Isn't that kind of four chord trash truely what the 13 year olds want to hear these days? Words like incendiary, explosive, energetic and orgasmic could all be loosley used to describe this "uniquely" visionary quartet. If you like a band who is not actively seeking to redefine their signature sound, or if you just really like a band that can openly admit to being pop.. as opposed to "a new and original brand of post hardcore"... then for sure, check these guys out.
In a deep dark corner of Mickys house sometime in late 2004, someone had the idea to bring together a group of similarly inclined musicians from around the Clarence Town area. The general gist was that if you possessed any talent at all, you should probably leave it at the door. It's safe so say that not many visitors tripped over that pile that day, and Clarence Town rock history was born.
Cutting their teeth on Ramones covers and the odd Inxs tune, gigging in shady bars, with horrible sound systems (often turned off by arrogant publicans), Same Old Story began to carve their first marks in the lino that makes up the image they imprint to the world today. A few horribly long rounds of halo, grand theft auto and who knows how many cans of coke and the first originals were formed, and due to their quality, forgotten soon after. Same Old Story finally found their niche with I'm OK, which still features prominently on their sets years later, and heralded the start of a string of local favorites, and the emergence of something really special for the small and sleepy place called Clarence Town.
Stuart Alouicious Carter, a good mate, and then a trusted and loyal employee of the IGA, was convinced to put down his broomstick and join the crew, adding a much needed lead guitar to their sound, and also further deafening the group. Since then they have discovered earplugs, and day in and day out, (when no one is spear fishing, surfing, etc.) have been struggling for as much perfection as they can possibly coax out of their playing. They are yet to completely succeed, but its safe to say their trying.
