Bio:
In the centre of Cairo, at the foot of Mokattam, there lies the 'garbage
village' of about 20,000 people. These people, referred to as zabaleen,
live off garbage activities. As a result, they are effectively excluded
from the rest of society, which has meant that in the past most
zabaleen children had no access to formal education. Instead, from a
very early age, they would accompany their parents in sorting waste in
the home, or going on the collection routes around Cairo - since it's
estimated that the zabaleen handle about a third of Cairo's garbage.
In the city of chico, 4 then 5 young men and one woman, then 4 young men again decided to utilize the word "Zabaleen" to describe not only the very poor but also the very wealthy, for both can be considered collectors of garbage. The Zabaleen of Chico excrete talentless, trash, punk rock in support of those who deserve the attention of the revolutionary public.
