Story of Oi! band Cenzura
2000: History of this Bratislava 's (Slovakia) Oi! punk band is started in 6th of June 2000. Three then schoolmates decided to found a punk band. Roman has taken guitar and voice, Neupi bass guitar and vocals and Andrej drums. After few weeks came second guitar player Filip. First year the band has played just stray and mostly in Roman ' s flat. This stagnacy was caused by more reasons, e. g. they were founding music instruments and first experiences.
2001: In the summer 2001, band has found advisable place to drill their music. It was one cool garage, where they had their home for more than 4 years. In October 2001 was their first gig, which was in Labyrint pub, in Bratislava. It was a place, where started a lot of young punk band. Band recorded their first demo Cenzúra in Slovak broadcasting studio 12. – 14. December 2001. It contains just 5 songs and it has described then condition of the band.
2002: First big change arrived in the beginning of 2002 – their main guitar player Filip left the band because of his study in Prag. In the summer of this year came to the band two new members: Diviak – guitar player and Zeloi – accordion. Afterward on 28th October 2002 the band recorded their second demo (live) Naživo z DK Lúky.In this year was also one more change in the band: Roman left guitar playing and he started to concrentate only to sing.
2003: The band continue with gigs and in the spring of 2003 they travelled to Tvrdosin (Slovakia) for their first gig out of Bratislava, but when they came to the destination police cancelled this gig (police said: „Action is unlicensed!“), before the band started playing. After few days the band travelled to Nove Zamky (Slovakia), where they could play, but only half of their program because police came again and gig was cancelled. First complete gig out of Bratislava, the band played in Malacky (Slovakia). Than from 24. to 26. May 2003 the band recorded their official CD Dajte mi pokoi!. It was recorded in a broadcasting studio Exponent in Sulekovo (Slovakia). This CD contains 11 songs with professional sound. In July 2003 the band played in their first festival: Punk Island vol. 2 in Dobrohost (Slovakia). In the winter of this year, compilation Streetkids vol.2 has been issued, where the band has their song Kolotoc (Whirligig) . Then the band had a lot of gigs out of Bratislava, e. g. Brno (Czech republic), Ostrava (Czech republic).
2004: In the year 2004 band continue with gigs and they also worked on new songs. The band continued with playing in Slovakia and Czech republic.
2005: In the year 2005, one member of Cenzura founded Brutal records. He has had there many CDs, zines and clothes with street, punk and Oi themes (see “Distro shop” button).
2006: In the year 2006 Brutal records issued DVD Brutal scene volume 1 , where Cenzura have one song: Oi! Song . This DVD maps videos from Czech and Slovak Oi, punk and HC bands. In February and March the band recorded second official CD Rebel bez prí?iny . It has been released under label Brutal records.
