Bio:
DHF got together in 2004 as a group of young unexperienced musicians with just one goal; making their favorite kind of music. Although all band members like punkmusic, their taste is quite adverse. With Sander's black metal background and Aars' emo influences, Yoortje's hardcore riffs and Japse's pacifisme, what started out as a simple punk/hardcore sound, soon evolved into something more melodic and streamlined, faster and stronger.
After 6 months of practice DHF was still without vocals, so they started their first quest for vocals. Which ended with Ben. Just a few weeks after Ben joined DHF, the guys played their first show. Unfortunatly Ben just got out of the hospital that day and couldn't sing (not only that, he only knew one song). A solution was at hand when they asked Wanja to stand in for Ben. Wanja was trained with a two day steam course and they got on stage. For most of the band, this was the first time ever. It was a great succes and within 6 months they played 12 rocking shows and really got addicted. Deciding DHF was something they really wanted to go for.
With that decision in mind they had to let the lead singer go because he was a setback. It took to much time and energy to get a good sound and the rest of the band decided they wanted to find a new singer. Still the band is very proud of the shows they played with Ben, and with what they achieved together. Thank you once more Ben!
In there second quest for vocals they did a lot of auditions and tried many different types of singers. Finally deciding they wanted to give it a try with a very young lad called Sytze. The first few weeks were actually pretty good. Sytze showed he has a great voice and a good feeling for rythme and timing. Unfortunatly it just didn't 'click' between the guys and Sytze and after a couple of weeks everything just halted. To quote Japse: "The guy just doesn't have the balls... yet".
When a couple of months later they still hadn't found a singer, they tried to do the vocals themselves with hardcore style aggressive voices and screams, Untill one drunk night Yoortje met Ronny in a club. Ronny was very enthousiastic about DHF and DHF about him. This time the vocals really worked out perfectly. Ronny has a great clean punkrock voice and an amazing sense of rythme and chords. In two weeks three songs were already done and two of them recorded. DHF was finally complete and is starting to play shows again!
