About me:
Some kid from some place...Same story as every American child...Against the war in Iraq...In a band with no name and barely a style...19 years old and very wierd taste in music...I love a lot of different styles...But I do hate most Emo and poppunk...My favourite style is a tie between Rap and Industrial and Indie...
Now it's time to rant about stereotypes...I grew up in Charleston, South Carolina and was involved with a gang of Anarcho/skate-punks and rudeboys...We called ourselves The Saddlebrook Militia...All of us had our own style, and our own beliefs. However, we shared a lot of common beliefs.
I never got a mohawk or devil's lock...I kept with my chelsea...Or long hair...But not metal head long...Just long enough...I would skate with my friends during the week and on the weekends, we would burn stuff down or break something...It was fun...
One day, my mom met a dude on the internet and we moved from charleston to piedmont, sc. Big change. No Anarchos, very few skaters, and no rudies...I stayed to myself because I hate rednecks as much as they hate blacks. I eventually met some pretty cool punks, not anarcho, not really any certain type.
I was eventually shunned by the Punk scene for not being punk enough...I laughed and started a hiphop crew with my black friend and we called ourselves Dunamic Dyo...I then went shopping with my girlfriend one day and, being the poor boy that I have been since I was born, I was looking for good sales.
I found a really good sale in Aeropostale and actually went in their...At first I was like, all stereotypical about it, I said, "This isn't punk," but then I sat there a moment. I then said, "Whatever..." and I bought two button-up over shirts and went to the record store and bought a nice Anal Cunt CD.
Now I'm wearing nice clothes, living life, and loving punk rock...Am I not a punk because I wear a popular brand of clothing? Do I not kick ass just because I don't like The Ramones and the only band shirts that I own were given to me by a friend because I couldn't afford anything "cool?"
One thing that you have to learn...You can't be a punk in appearance forever...Watch SLC Punk...You'll learn...sure it may be a mainstream movie, but what isn't mainstream nowadays? Every one is focusing on being a nonconformist so they all try to dress differently but they eventually end up being all the same...I personally feel that you should look in the mirror. Do you look like someone else? If you do, Say, "Whatever..." you can be another person if you want to be...Or not...Isn't that what punk is all about? Isn't punk supposed to be a state of mind and not a fashion trend?
