A famous Greek philosopher.
He was famous in certain advancements in history. His theory on music, astronomy, and mathematics. He also founded his own religion in Croton. His religion was formed around the philosophy school he built, too. The religion itself was called, Pythagoras. They believed, heavily, in mathematics.
They all believed that relations could be reduced to number relations. .
He was born between 580 - 572 B.C. No one knows the exact date that Pythagoras was born, but most guess that date. He was the mathematician of his time.
He is best known for the Pythagoram Theorem. He also bears the name of “the fathers of numbers.” He made many donations to many mathematical academies. In the late 6th century he began to teach philosophy and religion. Pythagoras, himself, and his followers believed heavily that numbers and simple mathematics could solve everything and could estimate simple things.
Pythagoras once said that "number is the ruler of forms and ideas and the cause of gods and demons."
He was born on Samos, island of Greece. His parents were named Pythais and Mnesarchus. Soon he left his hometown to escape his political differences between him and politics. When a young man Pythagoras was a bright, young man and he should have a good career if he went down to Memphis.
His religious and scientific views were interconnected.
He believed in reincarnation and other means of an afterlife. He claimed things (uncommon in that time) of his dead friends crying through the barks of a dog. And he lived four lives and he could remember in detail.
His very thought process works solely around the numbers and other simple mathematics. If you ask me his views and beliefs are a little dodgy. Every single one his beliefs are extremely weird and awkward.
His literary works don’t survive to this day. However, his theories do still remain.
Pythagoras has been quoted as saying, "No man is free who cannot command himself."
For some reason his greatest achievement was in music. He discovered that music is proportional intervals. It works with a number systems of 1- 4.
So in short everything in his life was worked around with numbers. They’re his everything. He worked with them until the day he died: 500 - 490 B.C.
