| What is wrong with the Warped Tour? |
Ok, i'm pissed now!
I got an email from one of the Warped Tour Promoters today and here is what it said (read all the way down for my reply):

I don’t know if you’ve heard of Play Radio Play, but he’s this amazing 17-year old, who has built a cult following thru MySpace and word of mouth. He’s getting so huge that he’s been asked to join Warped Tour and is recording his first album with award-winning producer Garret Lee, who has previously worked with the likes of U2, Snow Patrol, The Hives and Bloc Party.
I was wondering if you’d be interested in setting up a phoner, on-camera or email interview. Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks for the email. I don't wanna sound like a jerk or something like that but I just don't see it. I like to stay open and non-judgemental towards new music but this guy just sounds like a poor offshoot of Brite Eyes. Just because he's got 70,000 friends on MySpace shouldn't give him a ticket to The Warped Tour. I mean what are they thinking. Maybe they should change the name of it to the Popular Tour. Don't you agree or am i crazy. I've been in bands all my life and are in two now and I've always been for the music and not the votes. I mean, if this is where music is heading then i'm gettin' the fuck outta the truck! On that note I want nothing to do with The Warped Tour this year. Just my opinion.

Now if you take the time to find them on MySpace you can see what I mean. They do not belong on the Warped Tour.

the warped tour is what is wrong with punk music today.
punk music is not glamorous, its real, its hard core, its violent.
its about going to house parties and small venues in your home town.
the only punk rock festival worth going to is the fest in gainesville, fl.
its underground and hardcore, the way punk should be. |

| He is most definitely out of place when it comes to Warped Tour. Warped used to be like "punk rock summer camp". Now its just a place for scene kids to go and brag about the size of their hair. |

For starters it's always good to know that our Punkrock.org Guide finally decided to use the blog session and take a more direct role under this usually small online community.
As for the blog tiself: SHIT.
I went to myspace.com and checked for playradioplay, never had heard of that idiot before till today , the day I would prefer things would have rather remained in ignorance.
All this got me a little confused, it's no news that the Warped Tour features some dopey bands such as Big D And The Kids Table and then some old school classic punk like Bad Religion. I don't know what's the concept of the Warped Tour neither if there's actually a concept at all, I even went to their website but no information satisfied my curiosity.
Perhaps the ones that want that idiot in the Warped Tour don't want anything else but sold tickets, and in this case, they must expect this fuck to bring 76.439 more. |
