brush with fame
Usually, people don't give a rats shitter about this sort of thing, but I recently put an old Black Flag CD on and became reminicent of the old days.
It was maybe 1986, I'm not sure of the exact date. My brother and myself were at Ninos in Tucson about an hour and a half early for the Black Flag concert. Nino's has a little bar area outside the small concert hall and we were slamming beers and tequila like we were going to war. Just then, walking right past us, without anyone with him was, yep you guessed it, Henry Rollins. He was on his way to the can and needless to say, my bro and I were more than a little shocked to see him just walking around the bar by himself.
When he came out of the can, (hopefully he washed his hands) My bro, without hesitation said, "Hey Henry, come over here and I'll buy you a beer!" I was embarrassed that my stupid bro would open his yap and act like he and Rollins were old buddies. But you know what? He came over, shook our hands, sat down and said, "Just one, I have to get ready for the show." or something to that effect.
The three of us sat there for about 20 or 30 minutes drinking and laughing and talking shit like normal guys. And then he walked over to one wall, where a promo poster for the show was and took it and wrote a bunch of stuff on it, like "thanks for the beers, I hope to see you guys on the road again" which was strange because he really didn't drink but half of his beer.
I think my brother still has that poster.
