  • Our opposing views

Our opposing views. (from our myspace page)

The first part of the message is at the bottom. You should really check out this guys page before you jump to any conclusions. It's funny how thin the line that separates us. I think anyways.

These days, it's safe to say that everyone knows our "freedom" isn't free but what we said is that our freedom shouldn't be paid for with human life and the oppression of others. Just because freedom isn't paid for with blood doesn't mean that freedom isn't something that we pay for and work at. What many of us are suggesting is that as a society, we move beyond these school yard behaviors where we strike out at anyone and everyone when we don't get our way. Stepping back and looking at the big picture for the world and not just our share of.

Fortunately, it is possible to find news at other places then Fox. No, it's pretty clear to everyone that Saddam Hussein deserved what we got. But, with saying that, many members of our own government share the same guilty that Saddam was hung for. We did support him through his Regine of terror. You know, the gassing of his own people that was often mentioned. It was only when Saddam's Iraq began to be more of a global player that the US turned its back on him. The power struggle developed, Dessert Storm shortly follows. Now, after a decade for sanctions, we're back. Over 10 years of unsanitary water, one of the highest infant mortality rates in the world, food shortages, unemployment, incredible poverty, an almost non-existent health care system, etc, etc. due to our sanctions. This is where the " We also do not believe that our freedom should come at the expense of others freedom." comes into play.

I found a story last year of an Iraqi doctor who had to make one of the toughest decisions I could imagine. A mother had just given birth and was in desperate need of a blood transfusion. In another room, an infant was also in the need of a blood transfusion. The doctor makes a call to the hospital blood bank and they tell him that they don't have any blood for him. His patiences will undoubtedly died with out this blood. So, he searches the blood bank himself and finds enough blood for one transfusion. He's then faced the making the decision of who shall have a chance to live and who shall die. Remember that we're talking about a mother and a infant. The doctor decides to save the mother because she has a family to take care of but the decision irrelevant. Both the mother and infant died. The reason the blood bank didn't have the blood was because there was a chemical used in making the blood bags that was black listed by US sanctions. If an Iraqi could gather several thousands of these bags, and had the means to derive this chemical, they many be able to have a chemical that could hurts couple of people. Was this this supposed to the WMD's? We wonder why these people keep resisting us. When ones life is marginalized, others lives lose their value as well.

This bothers me because, I don't know, I'm human. I don't divide humanity by the borders of nations. When I see people of a foreign nation suffering, I think, what if that was my son, my mother, my father, my family, my friends. If this is what's necessary to ensure my freedom then stop. I'm not asking this of you.

But, who is asking this of you? Since 9/11, we've lost many of our freedoms so, what is it that you've really been asked to fight for? Our nation has lost support from almost every nation of the world, our military is stretched paper, and the cluster fuck we call Homeland Security has left our borders less secure then before 9/11. Do you consider us safer since we began the War on Terrorism?

I am not scared to go to the middle east. I'm more then willing to go at any time to help dig wells so villagers could have clean drinking water, help grow food so their families can eat, and do what ever I can do to help. But, picking up a gun is something I will not do. The people of the middle east do not hate me. They hate American imperialism. The economic power that has been oppressing them since the first world war. This is why so many oppose this unnecessary war. This is a war for oil. If it weren't for the oil, we really would just sit back and let them kill each other because we would have anything to profit off of. Simply saying that these people have been fighting each other for thousands of years doesn't explain or justify anything. Look at the history of Europe and the Americas. The people of the world have been fighting each other for thousands of years and at some point, the people of the world must evolve past this primitive way of resolving our problems. There are so many things that we as a people could be working towards instead of fighting for and it's time that we do before there's nothing left to do with.

You said you know that freedom isn't free and then you proceed to tell everyone how we shouldn't have to pay for it.How do you even have such a strong opinion from the States? You have let other people ensure your freedom and then criticized their mission. You also said that you don't think our freedom should come at the expense of other's freedom.Who's freedom? At the expense of Saddam Hussein's freedom to be a terrorist,a tyrant and a murderer. It's OK by me to encroach on Saddam's freedom to liberate 25 million people and for our own national security. At least you are intellectually honest, because since you're to scared to be in the middle east you wouldn't want to send others, but just know that if we didn't have anyone that was willing to die for your freedom you wouldn't be able to live in your parents basement and have your silly little band.
